GymBuddy - (Near Hampshire, UK)

1 /5 Samantha W: My husband signed his gym up to Gym buddy back in 2019 with the promise of many visitors to his gym through the app, a sales rep that would stay in touch along with digital marketing. 3 years down the line and weve not had a single visit through the app, no contact from the sales rep and certainly no digital marketing as it appears the app is only used to promote their own gym. They dont even appear to hide this fact, disgraceful.

5 /5 Luke: Not sure why this app has so many bad reviews, other than that maybe there is some sort of personal vendetta against the owners by an individual. It’s fairly obvious that most of the 1 star reviews are written by the same person and often mention the owners which would indicate someone has a personal issue and is making intentionally malicious reviews. I have used the app from its inception, and whilst there were initially a few bugs and teething problems, it’s has improved massively into a highly functional app that has worked perfectly every time for me. I have booked in to numerous gyms, including Basecamp and I’ve never had an issue. If people had a genuine problem with the app, they would just contact the support team, not go straight to Google and leave a 1 star review. Something stinks here and it’s not GymBuddy.

5 /5 Katy Collins: Great app and love the layout has some nice features with the news feed for updates. The running tracker is a nice added feature, I get its not strava. The main function for this app is a gym booking system which Ive had no problem with. Ive booked into two different gyms local in the portsmouth area. I think more gyms is need though but hopefully they will have more available as we get out of this pandemic.

4 /5 Adam Gunning: I have been on/off using the GymBuddy app for some time. Firstly I like the concept, being able to train at different gyms instead of being tied in to one contract with a single facility, especially when you have friends that train in different places, being able to visit different gyms is great. The only issue is it can fall short if gyms in your area are not signed up to the app. I imagine the more facilities that sign up the better the app will be. I have utilized the app to train at multiple gyms locally (Village Hotel, Basecamp and Horizon) and the only issue I found was on rare occasions the app would be a bit slow and clunky - that said GymBuddy are constantly updating the app and fixing stability issues so imagine this will continue to improve over time. The tracking feature is obviously not quite as good as apps like strava etc. but as far as Im aware this was only implemented to keep people busy and motivated while gyms were closed over the lockdowns. Not really a feature I utilize but a pretty good added bonus should I ever choose to use it. Ive seen complaints over the marketing and the fact that the large majority of adds are aimed at the Basecamp gym, I agree that some variety ad-wise would be good instead of seeing the same ones pop up. But maybe this is down to a lack of marketing from other gyms.. Im not sure. Any dealings I have had with the team behind the app have always been positive - for those reviews trying to claim that the app is some form of scam, I really dont understand how it could be.. they are simply trying to give people the freedom to train at multiple gyms, and for the gyms that sign up potentially increase revenue.. not guaranteed but worth a shot. As mentioned above the shortfall with the app is likely the lack of gyms currently available but hopefully this will increase over time. Overall great concept - Room For improvement - Will continue to use
