2 /5 Mark Takhar: A new local gym for the Island, with a fairly mediocre range of equipment that will suit beginners or novice trainers. While everything is new and visually appealing, anyone who is serious about their training is likely to be disappointed, as the gym is very limited on cardio machines and also missing several key pieces of equipment, particularly for back, calf, and leg training.
The functional training area is reasonable but would benefit from further investment and a wider variety of equipment. If you value variety, repeating the same workouts with limited options can quickly lead to boredom or complacency. The class instructors do their best to keep sessions varied and engaging, but with restricted equipment, they are inevitably fighting an uphill battle.
There are currently no personal trainers employed at AF Hayling, nor anyone holding a Level 3 or above qualification to write personalised training programmes for members. If you require additional guidance or structured support, you would need to source an external trainer or consider other local gyms that have suitably qualified staff, many of which are also more affordable.
The gym is also lacking a communal seating area and a drinks machine, both of which were promised to members prior to opening.
It looks nice enough but more attention to detail would go a long way as certain areas look unfinished and tired in places already.
I feel with only one full time member of staff and an unqualified part timer that customers will not get the level of service they would expect for the prices they are paying.
