4 /5 Jane Reviews: Gauntlet is hands-down an incredible gym. The atmosphere is welcoming, professional and perfect for women, whether youre just starting out or further along in your training. Ive always felt safe, comfortable, and respected in the space, something that’s not a given in every fight gym.
The coaching team is phenomenal. Coaches like Sammy, Mat and Elliot are not only technically brilliant but also deeply respectful, supportive and engaging. Their sessions are challenging, motivating and inclusive, you leave feeling stronger and seen.
That said, I do want to raise one concern. There is a woman at the gym, I believe her name is Mira, who may be a coach in training or simply part of the team. Unfortunately, my experiences with her have been consistently uncomfortable. While she presents herself as friendly, her interactions feel undermining and unnecessarily condescending. There have been a few moments where her comments felt passive-aggressive and it has genuinely impacted my confidence in class.
Its disappointing, especially in such a strong and uplifting gym environment. Being great at Muay Thai doesn’t always equate to having good people skills, and I do think its important for the team to reflect on the soft skills needed to coach effectively, especially in a space that values growth, trust and inclusion.
Overall, I’m still hugely supportive of Gauntlet, the coaching and community are excellent. I just hope theres more thought put into who represents the gym in a coaching capacity going forward.
