Millie Melvin I’m a keen runner and hiker who started to get knee pain which was really uncomfortable on my hikes downhill. I was diagnosed with patella tendonitis from a physio. Frustratingly the advice I had received was to avoid exercise or complete rest, but my knee wasn’t improving. This is when I realised I needed some strength and conditioning training and reached out to perma performance.
I was unsure whether I would feel prepared for an upcoming hike up Acatenango and my 4 day hike to machu picchu. However both Jamie and Lewis put together a plan in conjunction with a physio they recommended, which helped enormously - not only in terms of comfort, but in terms of my general fitness and building confidence back in my ability to perform activities I enjoy.
Both Jamie and Lewis really helped explain the process and gave me much more knowledge regarding my knee issue than I had before. The clear rationale and explanation of the process was something I hadn’t experienced with others I had seen previously, which made me feel like I wish I had started sooner! I went on to complete both hikes and feel great doing them!
