3 /5 Vahid Serpooshan: Copthall Leisure Centre has its strengths, but also some areas that really need improvement.
Starting with the gym – it’s a decent size and has a good range of equipment, but it’s consistently overcrowded, especially during peak hours. Unfortunately, poor ventilation makes the space feel stuffy and uncomfortable, especially during intense workouts. It definitely could use better airflow or air conditioning.
On a more positive note, the swimming facilities are excellent. The pools are well-maintained and the swimming classes are top-notch. The coaches are experienced and friendly, and there’s a wide variety of intensive classes that cater to all levels – this is easily the best part of the centre.
The café is okay – not spectacular, but it does the job. They offer a solid selection of protein shakes, which is great post-workout, though the rest of the menu could be a bit more exciting.
Overall, Copthall Leisure Centre has potential. If they improve the ventilation and manage gym crowding better, it could be a much more enjoyable place to train.
