4 /5 KeepinItReal K: Updated Review (edited following recent modifications to the gym):
Overall, this is still the best gym in the area and it has a lot of potential. I’m writing this as a PureGym member, using PureGym as a benchmark for what a solid budget gym looks like, and genuinely hoping this gym continues to improve for its long-term survival.
Pros
• Less crowded than the only other gym in the area, The Gym Group and it has better equipment.
• Free weights and benches are decent, and you’ll rarely have to wait for a bench
• Two deadlift/squat platforms, so waiting times are minimal
• Update: Pleased to see a sled has been added and an additional studio opened with a mirror, which is great for stretching and mobility work.
Cons
• Prone leg curl and cable machines still feel a bit off
- The biggest ongoing issue is the lack of clear gym etiquette and anti-harassment signage—especially important given that this is often an unmanned gym. Some questionable behaviour from male members appears to be going unchecked, and clearer standards and messaging would go a long way in improving the environment for everyone
