5 /5 Maja Hill: TLDR Its great value for money, friendly staff, warm pool, sauna and free classes.
For me its an easy 5 stars, but lets start with the bad stuff.
Huge car park, but its not obvious as its through the arch behind. Maybe park in Lidl and then walk down on your first visit if youre not sure.
The whole place could do with a coat of paint and TLC, if this is important to you its probably not your gym.
The layout is super confusing, the pool is obvious but the sauna is well hidden. The free weights and boxing area is in its space ground floor, the fun machines and yoga are upstairs down a completely different corridor.
Lockers are confusing, youll need a key from reception, ignore the pound slot in the door.
Changing room floors can get wet; Sauna, showers and pool, theres a lot of water.
Now the good news:
The cleaner seems to live in the place, hes always mopping and emptying bins.
The pool does vary in temperature but its always the warmest I know of. If you want mostly swim time the membership is probably worth it for just that.
Yoga, Pilates, swim aerobics, over 50s etc all the classes are free. There are currently 3 yoga classes a week if you can handle it.
It just doesnt feel like somewhere for posers, people are there for health and genuine development not to just look good. Maybe you dont want the punch bags or boxing ring, perhaps the very intimidating free weights aret for you, or running machines dont float your boat? Just find the part that is your thing and enjoy. Any questions there will be someone on reception and they are super friendly.
