Alison Luker I signed up for a trial at Base 13, a little reluctantly, after reading a lot about the importance of resistance training for women of my age. Im in my fifties and Ive never been a member of a gym before; I felt quite overwhelmed at first by the equipment and strange new language of deadlifts and bench presses. I neednt have worried, Base 13 is a remarkable place. Despite having lots of longtime members, the gym is very friendly and supportive and not at all cliquey. The small group sessions provide excellent support and supervision; and all the coaches Ive worked with are both knowledgeable and approachable. Im generally quite lazy about leaving reviews but this gym is very special.
