5 /5 Felicity murdoch: I chose this class to ensure I could respond well in a threatening situation. Ive been attending since December 2023 and feel better now in a variety of ways: the classes are making me fitter, more resilient and more confident. Ive just applied for my second grading and recently took the Realism class where youre put under pressure in simulated threatening scenarios and able to demonstrate the defences youve learnt. I was very nervous about this one due to prior experiences but the instructors made it a really positive, encouraging class - and i found out how much more forceful I can be in defending myself. Fantastic club, highly recommend.

I felt welcomed by everyone and I was surprised by how involved i got for my taster session. It was easy to follow and go at your own pace but still as part of the group. I felt comfortable and welcomed by all and would highly recommend it to all.

5 /5 Sarah J: Brilliant club for any age!! My son (12 years old) attended the mixed class for several years and now attends the senior club. He looks forward to the weekly lessons and is greatly supported to get the best out of the lessons by Sensai Ian and fellow club members (they know who they are!!!!). As a proud parent it is great to see him progressing with each belt he achieves. Not just progressing with learning the skills, but also key skills of respect, listening, concentration, supporting others, communication - to name just a few. Highly recommended by parent and child!!!!

5 /5 Gillys: I decided to try Hampshire Self Protection-Basingstoke Martial Arts and Self Defence Club after seeing an advert for 2 people to train online for the price of 1. Having tried other traditional fitness classes, I fancied a change (and a new challenge!). The free taster session allowed us to get a feel for the training style and just what it is all about. I have continued with the classes and every week I am learning something new and building my confidence! Everything is explained fully, and everyone can ask questions and for assistance if required. It is a very friendly and safe environment. If I ever cannot attend the online class ‘Live’ then Ian makes sure I have a recording of the classes to train in my own time. Hopefully, I will be able to train in person at the physical classes in future but with the current situation I will continue with my online journey. Thanks to Ian and the rest of the team for all the support and encouragement over last few months and look forward to continuing!
