5 /5 Connor Meen: Where most gyms make endless promises that never transpire, Crowns has over delivered in every aspect.
Starting with the foundations, they’ve equipped the gym with facilities that give you a reason to make your workouts last hours, and the staff will make you want to. Saturdays have become a day to head down to the gym, see your mates, hit the weights in the brand new gym, learn some martial arts in The Chamber, work on mobility in Room 101, recovery with an ice bath and sauna in the spa, and catch up over a smoothy on the way out.
This goes for the training too. Every class I’ve been to has been expertly led and thoroughly enjoyable but, to name a few in particular:
Mostly focussing on martial arts, I was relieved when I turned up to my first BJJ class with Kial. Well structured with a blend of technical and ecological teaching styles, he has reignited my love for the sport.
Robbo and Kareem have worked tirelessly to get the boxing off to a flying start, tailoring the schedule to meet the demands of beginners whilst pushing on with having fights lined up for the more experienced - all within just a few months of opening!
Ruben’s Muy Thai class is some of the most fun I’ve had learning Thai Boxing and a testament to the attentiveness of management. Seeing how popular the martial arts were, Muy Thai was added to the schedule as soon as possible and additional classes have been added after the Crowns team heard how much the members loved it.
Crowns may already be over-delivering but the team are always working on providing more. Whether that’s adding new classes, adding new equipment, or another incredible 1-of-1 workshop, the gym just keeps on giving. Just this weekend we had a boxing workshop with four-time World Champion Carl Froch. I did a round of body sparring with Carl Froch! Madness!!
This gym has it all and I recommend anyone who is considering a new place to train to head down to Crowns and see for yourself!
