1 /5 Anna With Yoga: They just kicked a girl out of the room
I had a very unpleasant experience at the studio today that left me quite disappointed, both as a student and a senior teacher myself.
I attended the 13:40 barre class, but as usual, the yoga class before it (scheduled to end at 13:30) ran over by about 10 minutes. At 13:42, the receptionist was still hoovering the studio, and our class didn’t start until around 13:45. A few minutes later, at 13:49, a student quietly entered, seemingly allowed in by reception, and was preparing to join. Instead of allowing her to participate, the teacher -clearly under pressure to enforce rules - stopped the class to call reception.
What happened next was shocking. The receptionist entered the studio like a nightclub bouncer and aggressively demanded the student leave. This confrontation created an awkward and hostile environment for everyone in the room, wasted even more class time, and completely disrupted the energy of what was meant to be a mindful, focused session.
It’s incredibly frustrating to see such a rigid enforcement of lateness rules when the studio itself doesn’t manage its own schedule consistently. If a student is allowed to pass reception, they should not be removed mid-class in front of everyone, especially not with such an aggressive tone.
This kind of treatment is not only unprofessional, it’s deeply misaligned with the values that a wellness studio should uphold. Respect, compassion, and clear communication go a long way, sadly, all three were missing from this experience.
