The club has a family like feel and is led by outstanding instructors and assistants. I was made to feel very welcome after a 20 year break from martial arts and crossing over from aikido. There is a broad cross section of men women, and kids of all ages and abilities. Unlike other clubs, this is a full contact club and teaches martial arts in a practical way that can be realistically applied if needed, unlike clubs which teach only the theory and form. The club is well resourced and the dojo is roomy and spacious. Gradings are done at the discretion of the instructors and in an informal way rather than a rigid exam or test. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and instruction is taught using their syllabus with an emphasis on flexibility and application in real life situations, rather than taught modules that are purely academic and static. The dojo has male and female changing rooms with showers, toilets, washbasins, etc. Theres a cloakroom area and students can leave shoes and personal belongings on a rack. The website is extensive and informative and new students can get started by watching the online videos. The uniform is jet black with a crimson red logo. The club shop sells all kit including trousers, tunics, T shirts, bags, hats, water bottles, kickboxing gloves, hoodies and so forth, all adorned with the clubs emblem.
