The Self Defence Club Uk - Kennington

Rating: 5 /5
Steffi E I joined The Self Defence Club after my Krav club closed. I love these classes! John is an ace instructor with experience across several martial arts. He blends techniques from each of these to create ways of defending yourself that are realistic to use in a street scenario. As a woman who works in London - a big and busy city that has seen some horrible crime in recent years - taking martial arts classes has helped build a lot of confidence in me, which I also carry with me around where I live locally. We’re an easy going group who just want each of us to learn to their best ability. We train to emulate potential real-life scenarios that would impact men and women, in an environment that is different from a village hall or a dojo, but always in a safe and supportive manner. Definitely come and give us a try!

Avalon Kickboxing - Cypress House

Rating: 4.9 /5
Ethan CW Avalon MMA stands out because of the quality of its coaching, lead by Head Coach Dr Mark Phillips. With decades of experience, the coaching here goes beyond just learning techniques or combinations. Anyone can be taught how to throw a punch, what’s different here is learning how to think during a fight. You’re taught how to control the pace, manipulate exchanges, and stay composed under pressure. There’s a strong emphasis on mindset and strategy, which many gyms overlook. Because of that you don’t just become more skilled, you become a more complete fighter, gaining discipline, confidence and the ability to problem solve both in training and everyday life. The gym culture reflects this. When you walk in, ego is left at the door. Everyone is respectful, supportive, and focused on getting better together. It’s a team. Highly recommended for anyone serious about improving, not just training for the sake of it.
