5 /5 AndĹľelika MakauskaitÄ—: Vilma had been inviting me to try Reformer Pilates ever since the studio opened. It took me a while to finally go for it, you know how it is, the first step is always the hardest.
I’ve always been quite active, loved movement, and stayed sporty. But once I transitioned into a desk-based job, everything started to shift - back pain, stiffness, low energy. I knew I needed to do something, and eventually, I decided to give Pilates a try.
Before starting, I had this impression that Pilates was easy and thought, how hard can pulling some straps be? But the moment I stepped onto the reformer for the first time, I realised how wrong I was. That first class completely changed my perception - I loved it straight away. It challenged my body in a way I hadn’t experienced before.
Now, a year in, I feel stronger, more mobile, and mentally more balanced. The more I go, the better I feel. Sure, there are classes that push me to my absolute limit, the kind where your muscles are shaking, you’re working through the burn, and everything feels intense. But afterwards, there’s this incredible sense of release and accomplishment. It’s a total love-hate relationship, but in the best way.
I’m not a morning person at all, but I even find myself going to early morning classes. There’s just no better way to start the day. I’ve never once woken up and thought, “I don’t want to go.” That says a lot.
The studio itself is one of a kind. While most Pilates studios tend to be soft, minimalist, and delicate, Pilates Vibes stands out with its industrial aesthetic and it looks and feels amazing. The classes are small, with a maximum of 7 people, which means the instructors always have time to give personal attention and make sure everyone is moving safely and correctly.
The value for money is excellent, especially when compared to other studios in London. And the instructors really know what they’re doing, they’re knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating.
Honestly, my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. Pilates has become such an important part of my life and I’m so grateful I finally gave it a chance.
If you’ve been thinking about trying it but feel unsure, this is your sign. Just take that first step - you might end up loving it as much as I do.
