1 /5 Mihika U: Unfortunately, I do not recommend this salon. I had the worst-quality manicure I’ve ever experienced here, and my subsequent interactions with both the salon and head office have been stressful and disappointing.
I booked a Signature Gel Mani and Pedi as a treat for my birthday and ahead of a holiday. The manicurist cut my cuticles too close, causing them to bleed. The manicure itself bubbled and dented across all nails within minutes of leaving the salon because the polish was applied too thickly and not cured properly. I even pointed out during the appointment that the polish looked lumpy and uneven, but my manicurist simply added another layer of top coat.
When I returned to the salon five minutes later, another staff member — without any apology — told me the issue was due to the colour I’d chosen, implying it was my fault. (This made no sense, as the same colour and bottle had been used on my toes by the pedicurist with no issues.) I was told I’d need to come back three hours later to have all my nails redone, which I didn’t have time for. The staff member advised me to email customer service for a refund.
Since then, I’ve had multiple back-and-forth emails with Townhouse’s customer service team, who acknowledged the poor quality but refused a refund, saying it’s “against their terms and conditions.” This wasn’t a case of a few chips — the entire manicure was defective. Their first offer was a £50 credit (which wouldn’t even cover the cost of the same manicure with removal of the existing gel), and their final offer was a redo plus £10 credit — even though I explained that I was already travelling outside the UK and would have to pay another salon to remove and redo the gel.
The whole experience — from the salon visit to customer service — has been extremely stressful and unpleasant, and it completely spoiled what was meant to be a birthday and holiday treat. I’ll now have to spend more time and money fixing this while away. I’ll be sticking with my usual local salon in future and won’t be returning to Townhouse.
