1 /5 Alex Fathers: I am getting increasingly fed up with the poor quality of gel manicures & pedicures I receive from Townhouse. In the several years I have been going, I have had generally good experiences with the very rare bad one. However, 3 out of the 6 appointments I have had in this year, I have had to make a complaint. Looking at the negative reviews they have had this year, Im clearly not the only one. This is frustrating because I started coming to Townhouse because of their consistency and high hygiene standards, but this quality has definitely slipped in the last year, I imagine because of their never ending expansion of stores across the country. The attention to detail is not there anymore and having to gamble with a 50% chance of having a good treatment is just not acceptable. I also believe their new range of own label gel & polish is not as high a standard as the ones they had before.
I had an entire pedicure refunded because I left the salon with cuts & bleeding to my toes, with gel all over my cuticles and even cured over the broken skin. I genuinely felt bad to the nail tech at the time because she seemed ill and clearly shouldnt have been at work that day. Which is worrying sign that Townhouse is working their staff too hard or not offering sick pay. I reached out to their customer service and due to the severity of the poor experience, they refunded the whole treatment. Because of this, I thought I would give them one last chance.
Unfortunately, my most recent experience of a gel mani, which I had on the 18th December, was less than desirable. Being made to sit at a pedicure chair to receive my manicure, as it had been overbooked, was uncomfortable & unprofessional. About 15 mins into the nail prep, I was finally moved to the manicure area. I imagine a step was missed due to this moving around, as the manicure began peeling at the edges within a few days. Finally, by the 26th December, all the gel had come off with very minimal pulling or damage to the nails underneath which makes me think the nail was not prepped or cured correctly - a very basic step in any manicure.
Whilst their customer service is receptive, and the nail techs are always friendly & lovely, I am tired of having to complain and would rather have a high quality treatment elsewhere. I will not be returning to any Townhouse salons and advise others to do the same.
