1 /5 Manu: I had a very disappointing experience with The Gym Group, both in relation to my membership cancellation and the overall standards at the gym.
Despite having a paid-up membership, the gym ended my access before the agreed end date, creating confusion and dispute over the billing period. This was handled poorly and without transparency. Communication was slow, inconsistent, and required repeated escalation, yet my concerns were never properly addressed.
In addition, during a class, I became aware that I was being recorded without any clear notice or explanation, which was extremely uncomfortable. It was unclear whether the recording was made by another gym user or someone else present, and when I raised this concern, the gym refused to clarify the matter. This lack of transparency was very concerning.
Hygiene standards were also poor. The gym does not provide basic cleaning products such as wipes, antibacterial spray, or tissues, meaning members are left to train on equipment still covered in someone else’s sweat. Toilets were frequently in poor condition, and hand soap was often missing. This is unacceptable in a shared fitness environment.
Finally, the availability of training equipment was inadequate. Basic items such as dumbbells and kettlebells were very limited, making it difficult to train properly, especially during busy periods.
Overall, this experience caused unnecessary stress and a complete loss of trust. Based on the billing issues, unresolved privacy concerns, poor hygiene, and lack of adequate equipment, I would not recommend this gym.
