3 /5 Georgina Poullais: I recently visited this salon for the first time, using a £100 gift voucher purchased by my husband (the owner checked my voucher before we began treatment). The experience itself was genuinely lovely as the owner, who did my manicure, was warm and friendly and the technician (Mina) who did my spa pedicure was extremely thorough and gentle. I opted for cat eye gels and diamontes on one finger of each hand and the same on each big toe. The results were beautiful and I really appreciated the care taken by both staff members.
However, I was quite shocked when the final bill came to £95, leaving only £5 from the voucher, which I gave as a tip to the pedicure technician (out of respect for her care and
because I always tip). Unfortunately, the pricing just didn’t seem to add up based on the price list I was given with the voucher. Even when factoring in extras like nail art and cat eye gels, I couldn’t work out how the cost reached that total.
What’s more disappointing is that when my husband purchased the voucher, the owner had mentioned I would “get lots” out of it. I had hoped to become a regular customer as the salon’s late hours are ideal for me after work. However, sadly, I don’t feel the value matches the cost and now feel quite ripped off. I didn’t raise the issue at the time and left happy with the look of my nails, but after reflecting and speaking with my 2 friends (who recommended the salon), I feel the pricing was excessive, unclear and felt like opportunistic overcharging. My friends say that they have never been charged anywhere near that amount for the same treatment (minus the cat eyes).
So while I truly appreciate the service and the outcome (hoping it lasts!), I won’t be returning and that’s a real shame, as this could have become my go-to salon.
