3 /5 Snodland Tony: I joined the Rochester Health Club two months ago and would have given the facilities 5 Stars
But the customer service lets it down.
Let me explain: I am 64, and due to health issues, I joined RHC only to use the swimming.
The swimming facilities are small but ok.
I dont use the gym, but I can tell you the gym facilities are very good.
I would have given the facilities 5 stars each.
My membership cost £55 to join.
And £67 per month, which seems
Good value too.
So why have I only rated this health club 3 stars?
Because I only use the swimming pool, due to arthritis,
I usually go once a week.
So when the management decided to close the pool for 5 days to do maintenance work, no emails or notifications were sent to me.
Just a piece of paper pinned up between the changing room doors
Where it would not be noticed
and only ten days before the closure so
After arriving driving to the club and getting changed into my shorts
Then walking up to the pool
I found the door closed by with tape across the it!
I asked for the 5 days the pool was out of action to be credited to my account so I dont lose out on my £67 per month payment.
The receptionist said they would ask the manager.
They then phoned me and said
Because I only visit them one day each week, they would only refund me for the one day and offered me £2 compensation.
Thats so wrong because I had paid to use the pool for the whole month
I thought this was unfair and a very poor way to treat an elderly customer.
So I have cancelled my membership.
and am in the process of joining a new health club.
Because I hate being poorly treated.
I would not advise joining on a 12-month contract, because it cant be cancelled.
Dont get me wrong, the facilities offered by the RHC health club
Are fantastic; the swimming is great.
and the gym is brilliant; its a shame about the customer service.
Do not refund when the swimming facilities are not available; thats my only issue.

But you obviously dont understand why I cancelled my membership
its not the fact that you shut the swimming pool without contacting any of the customers. its more about respecting
the people like me who pay your wages
giving their hard earned money to keep your facilitys open
the way you treated me is disgusting and you still dont seen to realise it. it boils down to bad management and being tight.
I am nearly 65 years old and work on a minimum wage due to my arthritis.
I dont pay you for nothing I pay you for the service you have agreed to supply.
I paid you good money to join your club and your monthly free
only to have you rip me off
I was gobsmacked when you refused to credit me back the five days you removed when i could not attend because you shut the pool.
I only use the pool that was explaned to you clearly when i joined
you shut your pool for 5 days
but you would only offer me 1 days compensation
big place like yours your meanness is on another level!!!!
also you have no water fountains for people to drink from
but insist they buy your bottled water.
I now use the Tonbridge wells health clubs swimming pool
that is much better than your tiny pool and best of all it only
costs me £4 a visit.
