3 /5 Ariyan Sabur: I’ve tried the 3 day day pass promotion. This gym does the job, but it’s pretty average, i wouldn’t say it’s worth the price.
The only good points about this gym are that it’s open 24/7, theres a range of cables/dumbbells, and the toilets are also pretty clean, definitely an improvement from previous reviews.
The things I would say need improvement are the total number of equipment. There’s only a single bench press in the whole gym from what I see. There are other chest exercises to use if the bench isn’t free, but it’s still a bit annoying. It would also be nice to see a boxing bag set up by the sandbags, etc.
Some of the benches in the free-weights area are hard as a rock too, trying to chest press off of them feels like trying to chest press laying against a boulder, it absolutely kills my shoulder blades.
The wide bar attachment meant for back (pulldowns/rows) are also extremely rough, the grooves dig into my hand a lot compared to any other attachment i’ve used in the past.
There are only 2 changing rooms fit for a single person that are made from chipboard, with a bench that isn’t even bolted to the ground and with very awkward lighting.
Coming from a price of £40 a month, I wouldn’t say this gym is worth it. It’s pretty small gym. Would be better suited at £30-£35 at max. Better themselves offer a 2 floor gym with a sauna and swimming pool for £35 a month in leyton which I would say is much better value despite lacking the convenience of a 24/7 gym.
It’s not a gym to avoid if you live in leytonstone and need the convenience of a 24 hour gym. It’s just a little small. £40 a month is a pretty steep price for what it is.
