1 /5 Oliviia Eden: I had a truly awful experience at Kapil Hair Studio on Headstone Lane. My hair was extremely long — around 30 inches, down to my lower back — and I went in for a very simple request: one-length hair with just two face-framing pieces.
Instead, my hair has been completely ruined. The owner, Kapil, cut it himself, and I left with a short, choppy bob in the front and long, uneven sections in the back. It looks hacked and not blended at all — nothing like what I asked for. To even it out, I’d have to cut everything up to my shoulders. Years of growing healthy, virgin hair are now gone.
When I returned to the salon to complain, the owner wasn’t there. I explained the issue to the staff, but instead of calling him on their own salon phone, they told me to call him myself — which is ridiculous, as I’m the client. I called him anyway, and he first claimed he wasn’t in the country. After I insisted that he come to deal with the situation, he said he’d arrive in an hour, then changed it to 30 minutes.
We waited, and when he arrived, he tried to tell my sister that I must have gone somewhere else to get my hair cut — a complete lie, since he was the one who cut it and I paid him in cash. When he saw the mess he’d made, instead of apologizing, he laughed and offered to “blow-dry it” for me as if that would fix the cut. I refused and demanded a refund and proper compensation for the damage.
He refunded the haircut but then only offered £30 and a travel-size shampoo and conditioner as compensation. Considering he ruined 30 inches of long, virgin hair that took years to grow, this is absolutely unacceptable.
I’m heartbroken and furious. What happened is completely unprofessional, and I want justice for what he’s done. I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone.
