rik burnell I’ve been training with Mark since this gym opened. He’s an amazing boxing coach and PT. I mix up sessions - one to one and groups sessions for different vibes - his aptitude knowing when to push you when to educate is amazingly intuitive. Approachable and fun!

Paul Had my first Reformer Pilates session with Val and it was fantastic. She was clear, patient and really supportive throughout, making sure I understood the movements and felt comfortable on the machine. It was a great full body workout, challenging but really rewarding. I left feeling stronger and more energised. Can’t wait for the next session!

zanna nzewi We go there for Taekwando classes for kids. Dont know much about gym itself. Looks very clean. Only downside i experienced that i had to wait about 5-10mins for someone to come to reception even after ringing a bell. When i needed to reful water fir kids i couldnt find water fountain as it was hidden in the corner.

Ninh Ly SUPER MODERN GYM AT A LOW PRICE! If you’re a member at JD Gyms Hempstead Valley, I recommend paying the extra money to use both facilities as this is a lush gym! If you’re not a member at all, definitely come and check this place out. Massive floor space with lots of weights and weightlifting equipment downstairs, Eleiko kit is super cool here. And the upstairs is your cardio area, changing rooms, toning areas & a studio for classes so if you’re the self-conscious type, you could easily spend your entire workout upstairs without encountering the bodybuilder types downstairs. The gym seems to go on forever, so if you like a modern workout space without feeling claustrophobic, this is the place for you. The fit and finish is definitely superior to any other gym youve been to. Saunas and 24-hour access is included in the package, but the parking outside can get a little busy, so consider parking at the overflow car park where Homebase is. Other than that, it’s definitely one of the best gyms in the area.

Marcus Brown Shi Kon specialises in Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Ladies Kickboxing. It is easy to find on Chatham Hill. There is ample parking available on the hill. The club has a family like feel and is led by outstanding instructors and assistants. I was made to feel very welcome after a 20 year break from martial arts and crossing over from aikido. There is a broad cross section of men women, and kids of all ages and abilities. Unlike other clubs, this is a full contact club and teaches martial arts in a practical way that can be realistically applied if needed, unlike clubs which teach only the theory and form. The club is well resourced and the dojo is roomy and spacious. Gradings are done at the discretion of the instructors and in an informal way rather than a rigid exam or test. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and instruction is taught using their syllabus with an emphasis on flexibility and application in real life situations, rather than taught modules that are purely academic and static. The dojo has male and female changing rooms with showers, toilets, washbasins, etc. Theres a cloakroom area and students can leave shoes and personal belongings on a rack. The website is extensive and informative and new students can get started by watching the online videos. The uniform is jet black with a crimson red logo. The club shop sells all kit including trousers, tunics, T shirts, bags, hats, water bottles, kickboxing gloves, hoodies and so forth, all adorned with the clubs emblem.
