2 /5 taslima akter: Was really excited about the update to the women’s section but ended up very disappointed. The changes don’t feel thoughtfully planned. Machines have been placed directly in front of the area where bags and coats were previously kept, yet no alternative storage or hangers have been provided, which makes the space feel awkward and inconvenient. The number of treadmills has been reduced from five to two, even though they are extremely popular, especially during peak hours. This makes it much harder to follow a routine. The cable machine has also been removed, which reduced both exercise variety and removed a useful hanging/support option. In addition, there are now no benches in the women’s section, meaning exercises like hip thrusts are no longer possible. Overall, what was meant to be an upgrade unfortunately feels like a downgrade for those who regularly used the women’s section. The previous layout felt more practical and user-focused. I hope feedback from regular users of the women’s section is taken into account, as the current setup makes it difficult to maintain a consistent and effective routine.☹️☹️☹️

1 /5 Susan Henry-smith: Woman’s only section men walk in to turn lights off in a morning to save electric which is really bad for us Muslim hijabs. All machines are old and the rooms are dirty and never cleaned. Same water leak in the woman’s only gym has been there for over a year, air con does not work. Woman’s toilets smell really bad and are so dirty, and woman’s changing rooms are not checked enough and I have seen men changing there children in them. Car park is not not useable and you have to park on the street which is permitted and you can ticketed. I have now left this gym due to paying £40 a month for something I cannot use

I’ve only joined 3 weeks ago and these are my thoughts (this is coming from someone who goes there by herself and doesn’t have any kids, and only uses swimming pool + gym): - Changing rooms aren’t the cleanest. There’s limescale in some parts, especially showers. The first week didn’t smell but for some reason, during my third week, I could smell urine as soon as I walked in. The changing rooms need to be cleaned better and something needs to be put in place so that those who use it, don’t leave it dirty. - Swimming is ok, I only go in the mornings. Each day, there’s different lanes with different speeds, so if you’re a slow swimmer, you can go in the slow lane for example. I’ve never had any issues of someone “telling me off”, maybe because I was there on my own and I just quietly left after my swim. - I didn’t really have any communication with the receptionists so I can’t comment on this but the times I’ve asked questions, there was always someone nice enough to respond and explain the things to me. First day of joining was very daunting but one of the lifeguards with a red t-shirt made me feel at ease and explained the rules so that I’d be more familiar (the guy with light brown hair and always smiling). - I haven’t been to the female gym (yet). But the normal gym has all the basic necessities and plenty of machines and free weights for people to use. Off-peak times are the best as the gyms are usually kinda empty. Overall, it’s a good place if you aren’t picky and can withstand the dirt of the changing rooms. You can find different activities, follow the rules and get on with your things. However, if you start picking at everything and have other issues then it might become challenging.

1 /5 Ishita Verma: Extremely disappointed with the treatment we received at Eastham Swimming Centre today. As a parent of a 7-year-old autistic child, I was shocked when the duty manager, Julian, rudely shouted at us while I was assisting my son on the slide. He said, “this is his first and last time on the slide” — completely inappropriate and lacking any empathy or understanding. Inclusivity clearly means nothing here. Staff need serious training on how to treat children with special needs. We left feeling hurt and unwelcome. I won’t be returning or recommending this place to other families.
