1 /5 Dominic Haigh: Virtually pointless swimming pool. My 7 year old son can easily manage a length on his own but according to the rules he’s not allowed out of a 5m x 10m area of the shallow end. This rule is strictly enforced irrespective of the child in questions ability to swim or my supervison. During a family swim session, most of the pool is virtually empty and obviously this area of the shallow end is crammed with parents all bumping into each other because anyone with a kid less than 8 who goes a metre past the red line gets waved back by the life guard.
Obviously it’s possible to organise a pool, better than this even within the limitations of insurance. Somehow other places manage.
Arthur Ransome must be spinning in his grave what happened to; “Better drowned than duffers. If not duffers, wont drown”.
