1 /5 Mandy Skeates: My first experience of going to a nail bar was so amazing, so why the bad rating? The second visit was so different. She started manicuring my nails which I thought was probably normal. She started cutting my cuticles which I hadnt ghoughg necessary. I asked why and she said it was to make the nail bigger. Ive had my cuticles trimmed before but not with giant clippers! So much was taken off!!
When I put my hand into the curing dryer I felt burning and took my hand out. She said no, put it back. I said its burning, she said thats normal . I said I didnt like it. She said it will stop soon. It did stop but it was unpleasant. She repeatedly hit the on button and each curing was twice the timer allowance.
Ok, so it was only my second visit but I dont know what normally happens. At the end she started rubbing my hands with cream saying I would like it. Yes I did enjoy it but I didnt ask for it. I had been praising them for the way having my nails done felt so good. I have been nursing for 42 years so had never had the opportunity to enjoy modern nail polishing. Now retired I was getting to do stuff Id previously only dreamed of.
After a few days, the skin on my fingers where it joins the cuticles started peeling back. Ive had manicures before but this has never happened. I went away for a week and the problem got worse. Very sore and bleeding, skin peeling and distorted cuticles. Despite twice daily moisturising as usual, the problem was not going away. My friends were concerned and said I must go back to the salon. It was a long bank holiday so on the Tuesday I called and they said to come in. On showing them my sore and peeling fingers they scoffed and said it was normal. I had a battle of words and trying to get them to understand it should not have happened. It was not normal for me and should not happen after a manicure, which by the way, I never asked for.
So, what is the upshot of all this? They refused to give me the managers name, or theirs. They refused to give me the managers phone number. A very rude customer got up and joined in, getting right in my face, throwing tubes of moisturiser at me, and calling me rude words.
So, yes I am very upset. I cant believe they caused me injury and are denying fault.
Avoid them like covid !!!
