1 /5 Minaz Rahman: I honestly don’t know how Bannatyne Health Clubs justify charging premium prices for such a shockingly poor experience. What was meant to be a relaxing, luxury visit turned into a complete waste of time and money.
The spa facilities were appalling. The steam room was flooded, with water sloshing around the floor, and to make matters worse it smelt absolutely rotten. Instead of feeling calm or refreshed, it felt unhygienic and frankly unpleasant. For a health club that claims to be about wellness, the basic maintenance standards were clearly nonexistent.
Lunch was an absolute joke. For £200, I expected something at least vaguely indulgent. Instead, we were offered sandwiches and jacket potatoes. To make it even more ridiculous, when choosing a jacket potato we were told that cheese with beans costs an extra £1. Charging extra for basic toppings on such a cheap, basic meal—after already paying £200—is beyond insulting. This isn’t a budget café; it’s supposedly a premium spa experience.
Overall, the entire visit felt like a blatant cash grab. Poorly maintained facilities, a flooded and foul-smelling steam room, and a miserly lunch where you’re nickel-and-dimed for cheese all added up to a thoroughly disappointing experience. I left feeling annoyed rather than relaxed, and I won’t be returning. Save your money—this place is absolutely not worth it.
