5 /5 ImmerTwin: A fantastic visit to Waterside Quarter — great coffee, wonderful atmosphere, and amazing sculptures!
I recently visited Waterside Quarter in Maidenhead, and what I expected to be a quick stop for coffee turned into a really memorable visit. The area is beautifully designed, clean, modern, and has a relaxed riverside feel that makes you instantly want to slow down and wander. I grabbed a coffee from one of the cafés on the square, and it was excellent — the kind of place where you can happily sit, people-watch, and enjoy the water views.
While exploring, I discovered the amazing public sculptures throughout the quarter, including the standout Pig sculpture, which immediately grabbed my attention. It’s playful, full of character, and a brilliant piece for families and children. In fact, the whole area is very family-friendly — wide walkways, open spaces, and plenty of spots to pause and enjoy the surroundings. The art trail makes it feel like an open-air gallery.
Maidenhead also has a surprisingly rich connection to famous residents, and it’s nice to see subtle references to the town’s cultural history. One of the most notable is Diana Dors, the iconic British actress often described as the UK’s answer to Marilyn Monroe. She lived in the Maidenhead area and remains a well-known figure locally. Alongside her, the town has ties to other distinguished names such as Sir Nicholas Winton and comedy legends Morecambe and Wise, giving an extra sense of heritage to the place.
Overall, Waterside Quarter is a vibrant and uplifting part of Maidenhead — modern yet artistic, peaceful yet lively. A brilliant spot for a relaxing visit, whether solo, with friends, or with family.
I’ll definitely be returning with my team to continue our digital scanning work.
