1 /5 Rupert Randall: I recently visited Stratford PureGym and, while the gym itself has good equipment and a decent layout, there were a couple of issues that really detracted from the overall experience.
Firstly, the disabled toilets are permanently locked. This means that unless I had specifically asked for them to be opened, I wouldn’t have been able to use them. This is extremely frustrating, especially for anyone who needs quick access and shouldn’t have to request assistance every time. Accessibility should be a priority, not an afterthought.
Secondly, the number of people recording themselves with phone tripods in the gym is excessive. Everywhere I turned, there was someone filming their workout for social media. I didn’t sign up to be in the background of every TikTok weightlifting reel. It creates an uncomfortable environment where you constantly feel like you’re invading someone’s video or might be accidentally caught on camera.
Also air conditioner is leaking and some machines are worn out.
Overall, despite the good equipment, these issues made the visit less enjoyable and left me questioning the focus on accessibility and gym etiquette.
