1 /5 syd: I am extremely upset by my recent experience here. I booked a wash, blow dry and straighten and my stylist was Fabio, who did an awful job. I have curly hair and have been to this salon before without any issues- Rita did a fantastic job the last time. However, this time was a complete nightmare. Fabio poorly detangled my hair and, to my knowledge, did not use any heat protectant before applying heat. After he finished blow drying and straightening, he told me he would be cutting my hair to address split ends. I confidently expressed the desire to keep the length of my hair but he assured me he would take off very little. What followed was a travesty. Fabio used thinning scissors and a razor on the ends of my hair, which is completely inappropriate for naturally curly hair, especially when it is straightened. This demonstrated his complete lack of knowledge and skill. The end result was not what I asked for.
Furthermore, they attempted to charge me ÂŁ65 instead of the originally quoted ÂŁ35. Monique and Fabio claimed this was due to the haircut, which was totally unwanted on my behalf. I managed to get them to reduce to ÂŁ50 but I was still overcharged and felt blatantly scammed. As a 17 year old girl, I believe they took advantage of my young and quiet nature.
This appointment was in preparation of my leavers prom, but I ended up hating the style so much that I washed my hair the next day; however, it would not revert to its natural curl pattern. It was dead straight. This leads me to believe that Fabio either applied some kind of chemical treatment without my consent, used little to no heat protectant, or simply butchered my hair with his improper cutting techniques- all of the above could be true.
It has been around a month since and despite trying various methods to restore my hair, nothing has worked. My hair now just looks much shorter, just about wavy and incredibly damaged. It has practically lost all texture. I have attached before and after pictures to display the extent of the damage.
Around a week after the appointment, my mother called the salon to make a complaint and request a refund, Whilst Monique was helpful and pleasant, Fabio was argumentative, catty and attempted to feed us false information (on when the appointment was and what I had booked). Additionally, no-one confirmed if any chemical treatments or heat protectant was used during my appointment. Fortunately, we received a refund, but this one bad experience has marred the reputation of this salon.
I strongly advise against booking with Fabio if you have textured hair- he clearly lacks the skill and knowledge of handling it. This level of incompetence and unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and I hope that serious actions are now taken to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
