Cowshed - (Near Camden, UK)

2 /5 Katie W: Honestly, what on earth has happened to Cowshed spas this past year? Has there been a change in senior management? Because it really feels like something’s shifted — and not for the better. I tried to buy a gift card recently and no one could even tell me if they exist anymore. The staff always seem miserable, which is such a shame, and half the products never seem to be in stock. On top of that, why are treatments in Primrose cheaper than Shoreditch? Cowshed used to be my haven — the place I’d go with friends for a treat and always leave feeling uplifted. Now it just feels disorganised, inconsistent, and honestly a bit of a mess. Really disappointing.

3 /5 Lil Miss: I recently had a 90-minute Lava Shell Massage at Cowshed. The massage itself was excellent — the lava shells stayed hot longer and provided a deep, soothing heat, and the therapist was skilled and attentive. The longer duration offered good value compared to other spas. However, the ambiance wasn’t to my taste; the rustic decor felt a bit dated, and the cleanliness was disappointing — the toilets smelled unpleasant, and the massage bed’s face cradle had an odor, though the therapist kindly provided extra cushioning. The massage oils didn’t have a strong scent and felt less pleasant compared to other places I’ve visited. There was no shower or relaxation area afterward, so I had to get dressed quickly and leave. Overall, the spa experience felt less polished than others I’ve tried. Good massage but the surroundings and facilities could definitely be improved

4 /5 Anita: A really comfy and cozy place in the heart of a cute neighbourhood. I had the massage today, which was absolutely fabulous and comes with a complimentary hot beverage. The room temperature was warm, and I had my choice of scented oil. The only downside was that the treatment was downstairs. (Yes, London loves its basements). As such during my treatment I heard the constant stomping of either moving chairs and people walking upstairs. That was the reason I did not give this place 5 stars.

3 /5 Juliana Martins: This is the second time I have been to this location for a massage. The first time I left less than satisfied by the massage technique and the massage bed was uncomfortable as my head felt like it was hanging off lower than it needed to be and strained. I came back a second time with a new masseuse to give it another shot and was also left dissatisfied by the massage technique. I felt like I was getting a gentle pat down and I asked 2-3 times for more pressure and to please get out my knots and tension. I ended up booking a facial / massage after at The Sculptress London as I felt like my upper body tension wasn’t address. I also noted 2 times that it was too cold in the room and had to get a second blanket put over me. I had goosebumps during my treatment and was hard to enjoy. At the end, I saw that the room was 19 Celsius which is freezing if you’re laying there barely clothed with limbs exposed in a small room with a vent above. Staff was nice and there was complementary tea and lemon water. The aromas and oil scents used on me also smelt nice and relaxing. The venue is cute and the street its on is a nice walk.

2 /5 Jane Murphy: Extremely overpriced for what it is. Booked for 10:00am on a Sunday but they dont open the doors until 10:00am and dont add on extra time missed getting ready (even though they state to arrive 10 mins before your appointment...essentially, you lose about 10 mins of the hour you pay for). Room very cold, thin towels (they used to have plush, heated plinths), masseuses trainers were sticking to the floor on her every step and squeeking (like you would hear on a basketball court!!) Had to ask her to take off her trainers after 10/15 mins of it. Couldnt relax at all, even after this. When I brought up issue of late start and early finish the staff and manager were very unhelpful and still made me pay for lost time. No apology or gesture to ameliorate the situation. Massage wise: as a good a massage as anywhere else I have been. Will definitely not be back and will stick with my lovely, local spa which is much more comfortable, professional, friendly and reasonably priced.
