4 /5 Annie Gooderham: Edit: the renovations are done now, and when I saw they were putting in a spin studio where the cool down mats were, I was relieved because I assumed it meant the classes that normally take place on the gym floor would use the studio instead. But no, the spin studio is barely used and the classes that take place on the gym studio are even MORE frustrating because thats where the mats are, so now when theres a class on theres no where to stretch! It seems bizarre to me, when stretching and cooling down is so important for avoiding injury, that they are making it so difficult to access the mats?
Im also still mad that they got rid of the vertical traction machine, which was really popular, so now the lat machine is almost never free, and multiple times when Ive come I havent been able to use the lat machine because theres always someone on it. But thank god they bought the new squat machine that Ive seen maybe 2 people use!

Its a decent gym but there are some issues.
Broken equipment takes ages to be fixed, there was a broken treadmill that just stayed there for months. The new pull up and cable bar was taped off for 3 weeks, presumably because I saw it rocking back and forth like it was about to fall over when someone was doing pull ups on it. The leg press machine has been taped off for 3 weeks now too.
With all the work that has been going on to improve the gym, Im shocked that the leaky tap is still just being held together with tape, as has been the case for months.
There also arent enough carabiners for all the cable machines to be used at once.
In the course of the refurbishment they have got rid of the vertical traction machine, which was always busy, and the big frame for pull ups is gone too.
I also find that the staff are rarely around, unless theyre doing a PT session. Another gym goer told me that I was using the chest press machine wrong, which was really useful but surely the gym staff could have noticed and told me! I just find that if I want to ask how to use a piece of equipment, especially with all the new equipment theyve installed, theres no one around to ask.
My last gripe is that the door is frequently just propped open, and staff arent always keeping an eye on it. I would never use the lockers because it doesnt feel secure that people can just walk in.
