1 /5 Ollie: Breached their own contract, violated GDPR, and ignored their own policies â AVOID AVOID AVOID!
I strongly advise anyone considering Anytime Fitness Leatherhead to think twice before joining. My experience with this gym has been nothing short of appalling â not due to the facilities, but because of the organisationâs blatant disregard for its own contractual obligations and UK consumer protection laws.
After agreeing in writing to freeze my membership at ÂŁ5/month for health reasons, they instead charged me the full ÂŁ42.95 without notifying me â a direct breach of contract. It took my own intervention to spot their error, chase them, and secure a refund. Had I not, I would still be unknowingly overpaying.
Despite multiple clear written agreements, the club misapplied its own terms and ignored pre-contractual representations â actions which fall foul of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, particularly Sections 49 and 50. They also refused to confirm my contract end date until legally challenged, a breach of my right to access personal data under UK GDPR Article 15.
Even worse, their internal knowledge of consumer rights was shockingly poor. They repeatedly misrepresented the law, dismissed factual concerns, and only corrected course when forced to â not proactively, but after legal escalation. Trust was entirely eroded, and I was left to defend my basic rights against what should have been a straightforward resolution.
Check your rights before signing anything with this company. Donât assume they will follow the law â do your research, keep all communication in writing, and be prepared to hold them accountable. I wouldnât wish this experience on anyone.
