1 /5 Salma Musa: Absolutely unacceptable behaviour at this beauty salon.
When I arrived, the staff opened the door for me and helped me in, speaking to me politely. I asked for eyebrow and upper lip threading and was told it was £5 and card was accepted. Despite there being two beauticians, I was then told I’d have to wait until the owner finished straightening her client’s hair and then had her own hair washed — something that was nowhere near finished and never explained beforehand.
I had my baby in a pram and said I couldn’t wait due to the smoke from hair straightening. I was rudely told to leave. As I struggled to exit with the pram, no one helped with the door this time. When it lightly hit the wall, the owner shouted at me, “don’t break my door,” then turned to her client and called me a “stupid woman.”
The sudden change in attitude was shocking and felt discriminatory. As a Black Muslim woman, I was spoken to with hostility, while the other client — who appeared to share the owner’s background — was treated with care and respect.
Unprofessional, disrespectful, and humiliating. I strongly advise avoiding this salon.
